91ֿ Airport Collects More Than 5,000 Pounds of Donations for Local Animal Shelters

The 91ֿ Airport hosted its fifth annual Props-4-Paws collection event this fall and doubled its goal, collecting 5,434 pounds of supplies, including toys and 6,213 cans of food for animals for Portage and Summit county animal shelters and rescue organizations. This well-dressed dog made an appearance to support the KSU Airport Props-4-Paws event.

Each year, the airport collects supplies for animal shelters in the area between September and November. This year’s goal was to collect 2,500 pounds. The donations went directly to the Portage County Animal Protection League and the Humane Society of Summit County.

“The airport has always been a reflection of the community we serve, and this is an excellent example,” says David Poluga, 91ֿ airport manager. “91ֿ faculty, staff, students and alumni contributed hand-in-hand with residents of Stow, Kent and Munroe Falls to have a meaningful impact to the betterment of our shared community.”

The airport received help from members of the community to deliver the donations to the shelters.

91ֿ Airport takes on several other charitable endeavors each year. The airport management team works with K9 programs in local law enforcement to assist in dog training programs. It also hosts the College of Applied Engineering, Sustainability and Technology’s Aeronautics Fair, which is a free event for the community.
